The Experience

Shom has had a long history of music from hearing is older sister playing 80s pop to rnb hiphop to jungle the early 80s through to the 90s. Which led him to buy vinyl and start DJing early on friends decks in 1996.

Having played consistently for a couple of decades from 2000 till now he’s versatile with all ages groups and many different style of parties  His style of Djing is electric using originals, mashups, and making him adaptable for many events from bars to private events.

Shom understands crowds and always reads the room in front on him. He doesn’t plays music to what he might want or likes, he only plays to what clients request/ venue music policy or what the guests are responding to (if free-play).

Galas

Shom has an extensive history playing at prestigious Gala events going back to 2007.

From the REAL IT awards, British Journalism awards to the annual UK events organiser Meetings Show Gala and so many more to add – Shom is no stranger to Gala events to the Marketing awards (see home page or live DJ sets page)

Open Format DJ

Each event varies on a nightly basis e.g one evening event could be a 80s 90s Pop Corporate event “mix and blend” set and the next evening may require a Current Charts to Old Skool R&B nightclub party style of DJing with elements of scratching.

With so many different events in London requiring a wide scope of music genres and diversity. Shom can instantly adapt his set to suit the audience in front of him to create a solid fun dance-floor every time!

Event Organisors

As a freelance DJ, DJ SR is hired as priority DJ for many event companies in addition to his bars residencies. He also used to run and own a full DJ agency but that company is a side business since covid as he entered another I.T field which occupies his weekday hours.

The Story

DJ SR started buying records in 1995, Shom then got his turntables in 1998. It wasn’t for another two years practicing in his bedroom until DJ SR came out to start his DJ career in 2000 playing at Queen Mary student union bars as a warm-up DJ.

Shom then made his way from there from uni bars to being a regular DJ in Leicester Square venues nightclubs (when there were many). Shom was well know by managers in the circuit by 2002 then he played many to the A-list nightclubs by 2004 as well securing himself many residencies in Soho.

DJ SR then became one of the resident DJs at London’s biggest weekly nightclub R&B party – for five consecutive years.

In addition to all of this, he has also played to members of the Royal Family, High Profile Corporate and Fashion events to billionaires mansion parties.

– there really isn’t a party scene in London DJ SR hasn’t covered.
